They were not charged with a hate crime, as that wasn’t possible under Wyoming’s criminal law. The men responsible for his death were convicted of first-degree murder and given two life sentences. There have been numerous documentaries, dramas, books and events based on the story. Judy and Dennis Shepard run the Matthew Shepard Foundation, which funds educational programmes and an online community for teens to discuss sexual orientation and gender issues. The Shepard family have become campaigners for gay rights. Politicians and celebrities pledged support and funding to combat anti-gay hate crime. The play The Laramie Project has toured the US and many other countries, telling Matthew’s story and encouraging campaigns against bigotry. As a result of Matthew’s death, many good things have happened for the gay community. The attack became a cause célèbre: it precipitated a national backlash against hyper-macho culture and tacit tolerance of homophobia. They pistol whipped him with a gun then tied him to a fence in freezing conditions and set fire to him before leaving him to die. Matthew was beaten by two assailants, Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson. I would definitely call this another Seneca Success story.T he horrific killing of Matthew Shepard in 1998 is widely seen as one of the worst anti-gay hate crimes in American history. My favorite dish is the hummus plate which comes with a delightful hummus (with or without feta), a wide selection of fresh veggies and hot, and grilled flatbread. The food is handled by ARAMARK, and they do a nice job the menu is slightly upscale. The ceilings are really nice and high, and it gives the whole place a nice open feel. They truly do have a nice fireplace, booths (which I like) with multiple electrical outlets, and a nice food and beverage selection. Inside the beautiful $6.6M Residence Hall and University Commons building, where construction was finished in 2011, the Fireside Pub opened that same year, on October. So, when I'm looking for a more relaxing, warm, cozy, energetic place to do some work in the evenings, I now have a great option. The other thing they bring is WiFi until midnight :) This is how I discovered the Fireside Cafe Pub-by googling for WiFi in Tiffin, found the restaurant, and then discovered they were open until midnight every day.except for Friday and Saturday when they stay open until 1:00 am. Combined they have about 3,000 students living close to downtown Tiffin they continue to expand and invest in beautiful facilities they add great cultural events, diversity and stimulation to our community. One of the great things about living in Tiffin is our two great universities- Heidelberg and Tiffin Universities.
